Supermarine S.6B

The Schneider Trophy, (or prize or cup) was a prize competition for seaplanes in 1911, it offered a prize of roughly £1,000. The race was held eleven times between 1913 and 1931. It was meant to encourage technical advances in civil aviation but became a contest for pure speed with laps over a triangular course of 350km.

Flt Lt. George Stainforth in a S.6B broke the world air speed record of 407.5 mph.

The S.6B is hailed as giving the impetus to the development of the Supermarine Spitfire and the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

This beautiful model of the famous Supermarine Seaplane Racer is cast from high grade Aluminium, polished to a high lustre, then treated to prevent tarnishing!

It’s wingspan measures a huge 420mm (17″) and fuselage is 320mm (13″)approx.

It would grace any desk or display!

Price; $285.00 AUD
